Description
This 252-acre Southwick WMA (Wildlife Management Area) was acquired by the Division of Fisheries and Wildlife (MASSWILDLIFE) in 2008. It is part of a large-scale effort to conserve grassland habitat in the Connecticut Valley, and is open to the public for hiking and hunting, with numerous unmarked trails and maintenance roads. Most of this area was formerly used for tobacco production. MassWildlife has conducted extensive grassland restoration and forest management on this property to promote vigorous growth of native grasses, shrubs, and trees.
